It’s Like, Totally Awesome! The 2026 Ford Mustang FX Package Celebrates the 1980s Fox Body

From a time-traveling DeLorean to the Walkman and shoulder pads to Super Mario Bros., the 1980s were an era of iconic fashion moments, blockbuster hits, and unforgettable rides. And while a new year often marks new beginnings, we can’t help but feel nostalgic for the past… 

And let’s just say, Ford is in a sentimental mood. 

The new 2026 Mustang has arrived on the scene and with it, the promise of exhilarating speed and eye-catching style. But nothing excites us more than the new 80s-themed Mustang FX Package. 

The 2026 Mustang FX Package: Inspired by the Past

The new Mustang package is a nod to the third-generation Mustang, which was produced between 1979 and 1993. Known as the Fox Body Ford Mustang, this car of the past was built on a platform that wasn’t exclusive to the Mustang.

The beauty of the Fox platform lay in its versatility. According to Hot Rod, millions of vehicles were built for Ford, Mercury, and Lincoln from 1978 to 1993 using this platform. And now, the Fox Body’s enduring influence can be seen in the 2026 Ford Mustang FX Package, which honors that iconic era.

The 2026 Mustang FX Package Details

Available on GT Premium models only, the new Mustang FX Package strikes the perfect balance between nostalgia and innovation, showing that we can remember the past while moving forward. 

You’ll have two 19-inch wheel options to choose from. While the designs are different, both options come in striking Oxford White-painted cast aluminum, which are graced with color-matched center caps featuring the Mustang GT wordmark.

The Oxford White color is a primary focus in the Mustang FX Package, which true 1980s Ford enthusiasts will appreciate. You’ll find Oxford White on the badges, and, when you add the GT Performance Package, the painted high-gloss Black grille will feature Oxford White inserts.

Other Mustang FX Package details include:

  • Black mirror caps
  • Headlamps with black bezel
  • Black seat belts
  • Unique Mustang rear window graphic (fastback only)
  • Unique white taillamps
  • Wedge decklid spoiler (fastback only)
  • Fox-Body-inspired upholstery
  • Accent-stitched center console lid

Though not exclusive to the Mustang FX Package, new color options have made an appearance in the 2026 Mustang lineup. These include Adriatic Blue Metallic, which harkens back to the third-generation Mustang color Teal, and Orange Fury Metallic Tricoat, which we haven’t seen since 2019.
